Thuksey Rinpoche´s Message
H.E. Thuksey Rinpoche on Shabten Practice
To All Our Dharma Friends,
I hope that all of you are well and your Dharma activities are progressing well. I have been reading the various Shabten reports submitted and I am very happy with the progress of the Shabten. It is touching to witness the sincere efforts that are put into the long life and dedication practices by the Drukpa centres, monasteries and those of our Dharma brothers, sisters and friends. This world is currently filled with so many negative human activities and actions, it is essential that spiritual leaders are there to guide us on the right path. As His Holiness has mentioned time and again that neither economic development, wealth nor warfare can bring about the much needed change in our society. His Holiness strongly believes that true change can only be brought by spreading compassion and love, by protecting nature and the environment, by showing tolerance towards other faiths, beliefs and cultures, and through understanding that all sentient beings are equal in their wish to be happy and that they deserve protection and love. It is through this belief that we may achieve some enlightenment along the way by truly bringing about change in our society through our views and actions.
His Eminence Khamtrul Rinpoche and I had mentioned before that the next four years are considered ‘obstacle’ years for His Holiness. And in these dark times, I feel we are even in greater need of His Holiness’s love, wisdom and compassion to illuminate our path towards developing compassionate Bodhichitta. Therefore I would once again like to stress the importance of Shabten practices and would like to extend my sincere request to all our Dharma brothers, sisters and friends around the world to strive with unwavering diligence and dedication in renewing their efforts in performing spiritual activities dedicated for the longevity and wellbeing of His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa, His Holiness Je Khenpo Jigme Choedra, His Eminence Bairo Rinpoche and Mayoumla as well as for all the great masters whose mere presence, if prolonged even for a second, can benefit numerous seen and unseen sentient beings.
As H.E. Khamtrul Rinpoche has rightly said that there are many known ways to request the longevity of our masters through various methods and means. I would once again also like to restate His Eminence’s request to all Drukpa monasteries to perform various longevity prayer ceremonies, especially the Amitayu prayer and Namgyal ma puja along with various other longevity prayer ceremonies, for the next four ‘obstacle’ years.
My prayers are always with you all for your success and well being. May all the precious masters live long and may the Drukpa Lineage thrive under their guidance benefiting all beings.
