The present Gyalwang Drukpa is the twelfth incarnation of the founder of the Drukpa Lineage, Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje (1161-1211). The successive reincarnations of the Drogon Tsangpa Gyare are recognized as the Spiritual Head of the Drukpa Lineage and responsible for the spiritual guidance of over 800 Drukpa Monasteries, in Tibet, Nepal, Ladakh, Garsha Kinnuar and other parts of the Indian Himalyas.

Shabten in Hamburg with Honoured Masters of the Drukpa Lineage on September 22

We were so lucky that we could practice Shabten with the blessings of H.E. Tsaptrul Rinpoche and Drubpon Ngawang.

Considering the bad water quality of the "Elbe" river, we released fish who feel happy in this water: eels or morays.

Humans see them as the fish with least reputation. Still they do a great job against water pollution.

Many of the toxins found in the rivers are liposoluble substances. The eels take this toxins with their food and accumulate them in their fat pads. This is extremely selfless as with the interior transformation from the alimentary organs to the sexual organs these toxic substances get to the gonadals and prevent any successful reproduction.

They also let themselves drift with the current and many end up in the turbines of the hydroelectric power plants.

So eels have been declared "fish of the year 2009" because they are threatened with extinction. Scientists estimate, that within 20 to 30 years there will be no more eels in European waters.

With a shower of flowers we released 500 small eels under the shield and with the precious prayers of H.E. Tsaptrul Rinpoche and Drubpon Ngawang.

Thereafter the ceremony was continued in the nearby park with the liberation of 1000 earth worms.

Shapten in Hamburg mit den geehrten Meistern der Drukpa Linie am 22. September 2009

Wir hatten das große Glück Shapten im Segen von Seiner Eminenz Tsaptrul Rinpoche und Drubpon Ngawang zu praktizieren.

Angesichts der Wasserqualität der Elbe haben wir Fische befreit, die in sich in diesem Wasser gut fühlen und glücklich sind: Aale.

Unter den Fischen haben die Aale am wenigsten Ansehen.

Dabei wirken sie der Wasserverschmutzung sehr entgegen. Viele Giftstoffe, die in die Flüsse gelangen sind fettlöslich. Der Aal nimmt diese Giftstoffe mit seiner Nahrung auf und reichert sie in seinen Fettvorräten an. Das ist äußerst selbstlos, denn sobald der Umbau seines Körpers beginnt - Abbau der Verdauungsorgane und Aufbau der Geschlechtsorgane - gelangen diese Giftstoffe in die Gonaden und verhindern eine erfolgreiche Reproduktion.

Leider lassen sie sich mit der Wasserströmung treiben und gelangen so gehäuft in die Turbinen der Wasserkraftwerke.

Aale sind zum Fisch des Jahres 2009 ernannt worden, weil sie vom Aussterben bedroht sind. Schätzungen gehen davon aus, daß es diesen Fisch in 20 bis 30 Jahren in europäischen Gewässern nicht mehr geben wird.

500 kleine Aale wurden unter dem Schirm der kostbaren Gebete von Tsaptrul Rinpoche & Drubpon Ngawang mit einem Blütenregen freigelassen.

Danach wurde die Zeremonie im nahen Park zur Befreiung von 1000 Würmern fortgesetzt.
