Drukpa Canaria with H.E. Gyaltsen Tulku Rinpoche

January 31, 2010

We are all still very much moved by our first retreat at Drukpa La Palma from January 23 to 25, organized by Drukpa, Fundación Canaria with H.E. Gyaltsen (Gyeltshen) Tulku Rinpoche with monk Soenam, Drubpon Ngawang with monk Jigme Dorje and Lama Kelsang from Dag Shang Kagyu (Pyrenees) and Markus from Barcelona who translated so excellent from Tibetan into Spanish and German. 5 "Drukpa Dakinis" from San Sebastian and Tenerife Island arrived 2 days before to help with preparations and decoration. Thanks to our very good friend Gonzalo (head of airport security), we could even receive Rinpoche and his entourage right in front of the Iberia aircraft. Thank you all so much for making this wonderful event possible. Thank You, dear Holiness for Your blessings, which we all felt so strongly. Before the retreat started, there was an auspicious rainbow in the morning over the sea and after it ended, there was another one.

His Eminence gave a very clear introduction to a principal understanding of Buddhism in its main aspects before elaborating on the actual topic: Bardo with initiation on Buddha Amitabha and Tsok. All together we were over 40 people and at the end 7 took refuge.

His Eminence also gave a special extensive water blessing ceremony for everyone with severe health problems. Many people attended and many could not hold back their tears. We received excellent feedback on unexpected health improvements. Thank you, dear Rinpoche !

We all were very happy to hear, that Rinpoche accepted our invitation to come again to La Palma Island next year and until now 3 to 4 La Palma Sangha decided to fly to San Sebastian in february to receive more teachings and blessings from H.E. Geltshen Trulku Rinpoche.

We dedicated the merit to the long life of His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa, all the precious Dharma masters and Sangha. May Dharma spread rapidly for the sake of all beings and our threatened nature and peace on this planet. Om Soti.

On monday morning we made an excursion to a cave down by the sea nearby with a small group, where Rinpoche took the form of Guru Rinpoche and Jigme Dorje dove into the high waves and had a swim in the Atlantic Ocean. Then we came to our animal refuge land, where the donkeys and dogs were blessed by Rinpoche. In the afternoon we went up to the "Roque de los Muchachos" at 2426 meters above sea level, where one of the world´s most important observatories is located and had a look into the world´s largest crater (11 km diameter) and national park "Caldera de Taburiente". A gigantic mirror for measuring cosmic rays proved us, what Rinpoche taught before: Bardo beings are actually upside down. When we saw us upside down in the huge mirror, we could anticipate the bardo unexpectedly (see the picture in the slide show!).

We found it difficult to select the pictures to show, so here is a small selection of 51 pictures:
